The NDIS will transform the lives of people living with disability, but it will fail if we think of it as welfare

It’s an incredible figure, but within a generation, the NDIS will be contributing $16 billion in today’s dollars to the GDP.

This is according to modeling by the NSW Government based on the Productivity Commission’s predictions about the program.

The NDIS is a new approach for Australia – viewing disability insurance as an investment in the future, instead of as welfare.
